Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Updates:
April 23, 2020
Attached is a schedule of the re-opening of trash convenient stations by Cassella/Clinton County. One of them is the Lyon Mountain location. So the Town of Dannemora is shutting down the Lyon Mountain trash drop off site operation at the Lyon Mountain American Legion after this Saturday April 25th. The Town of Dannemora will keep open the Village of Dannemora location in St. Joseph's parking lot open until further notice. Hours of operation will remain the same Saturdays from 9am - 1pm. All social distancing practices will remain in place at this location.

I William H. Chase, Town of Dannemora - Town Supervisor will extend the State of Emergency declared on March 17th, 2020 to coincide with NYS Governor Cuomo's State of Emergency and President Trump's National Emergency effective immediately. Furthermore the scheduled Wednesday April 22nd, 2020 monthly meeting is now CANCELLED. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday May 27th, 2020, but is subject to change if the need arises. All Town offices will remain closed until further notice and only essential employees will continue to work. With the authority granted by the Town Board in a resolution at the March 25th, 2020 meeting I will authorize the paying of all bills owed by the Town of Dannemora for April 2020. All policy and procedures necessary for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 will continued to be followed by all essential Town Employees while on duty. Thank you for your time and attention. The Town of Dannemora will continue to operate it's two trash drop off sites for the next two Saturday's April 18th and April 25th, 2020. The site in the Village of Dannemora will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church parking lot and the site in Lyon Mountain will be in the parking lot of the American Legion Post #1623. Hours of operation will be from 9am - 1pm. This is open to all residents in the surrounding areas who normally used the Clinton County/Casella run Trash Convenient Stations located within the Town of Dannemora.
Once again there will be a two bag limit per household. Also the next two Saturdays these two sites will collect normal recyclables, which included the following - newspapers, cardboard, cans, glass bottles, #1 & #2 plastic containers. All who use this service are asked to practice social distancing and follow all the recommended guidelines in place during this covid-19 crisis.

Town of Dannemora Extends Free Trash Collection:

The site in the Village of Dannemora will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church parking lot and the site in Lyon Mountain will be in the parking lot of the American Legion Post #1623. Hours of operation will be from 9am - 1pm. This is open to all residents in the surrounding areas who normally used the Clinton County/Casella run Trash Convenient Stations located within the Town of Dannemora.

SLIC Networks Solutions of Nichoville NY has set up a High Speed Internet Hot spot at the Lyon Mountain American Legion Post #1623. This is open to all in the surrounding area to all residents who may need access to the internet. The internet speed is 125 mpbs and access can be obtain while parking your vehicle in the parking lot of Post #1623. There is no password necessary to gain access. The Town of Dannemora encourages those families with school age children or college age students to use this service.
The Town of Dannemora would like to extend our sincere appreciation
to both SLIC Networks and the Lyon Mountain American Legion Post #1623 for there assistance to provide this service. Just a small example how we if we work together we will prevail and get through this.

Effective immediately (March 26th, 2020) the Town of Dannemora will shut down all non essential offices until further notice. This will include the Town Supervisor's office, Town Secretary and Town Clerk/Tax Collector's office. Only essential employees will remain on duty which does include water operators, wastewater operators, and the Code Enforcement Officer. The Highway Department will remain at the same status for now, an on call basics until Sunday April 5th 2020.
All Town Board members and all elected officials can use email, phone or text as a means of communication if necessary to do so. As it has been stated over and over we will prevail and get through this as we continue to work together for the Town of Dannemora residents and taxpayers.

The following is an update for the Town of Dannemora during this State of Emergency:
The March 25th 2020 monthly meeting will be at the normal time of 6pm. It will be closed to the public and open just to Town Board members, the Town Clerk and Leslie Dann, Town Supervisor's Secretary. This meeting will be recorded and made accessible to the public via HomeTown Cable and on the Town website.
Those who choose not to attend can do so via phone. Please let the Supervisor's office know before Tuesday March 24th. Matt Favro the Attorney for the Town, will be available via the phone.
Town Supervisor's office will maintain normal working hours over the next 2 weeks....subject to change if need be.
Town Clerk/Tax Collector's office will remain open subject to change.
Code Enforcement Officer Butch Wing will maintain office hours 1pm-4pm on Wednesdays for the next 2 weeks.
The Town Assessor's office is closed until further notice.
The Town Court is closed until further notice. (NYS Court I think put it at 45 days)
All Town Water and Town Sewer employees remain on duty as essential personnel. The DEC approved the plan to just to use Tim Graves and Patrick Chase only operating the Lyon Mountain Sewer System. The Assistant operator Adam Brown from the City of Plattsburgh will not be needed until further notice.
The Town Custodian Nancy Stockwell will work 2 hours a day Monday-Thursday over the next two weeks primarily performing sanitizing of the Town Hall.
Clinton County Emergency has on back order hand sanitizer and will allocated a share to the Town of Dannemora.
North Line Utilities continues to use our property as a base while working for SLIC Networks to bring broadband into the Chazy Lake area.
SLIC Networks will be setting up a internet hot spot at the Lyon Mountain American Legion Post #1623 which will allow high speed internet access within the parking lot to anyone who is in need of this. More details forthcoming.
The Town of Dannemora's trash disposal drop off site will happen on the next 2 Saturdays March 21st & 28th.

Bill Chase, Town of Dannemora Supervisor, announces free trash collection for residents.
I William H. Chase, Town Supervisor in the Town of Dannemora under the declared State of Emergency will implement the following procedure in regards to assist trash collection for residents and taxpayers who normally use the 2 Casella/Clinton County convenient stations located within the Town.
Jim's Trucking has been hired to set up a truck at 2 locations for the next 2 Saturdays March 21st & March 28th. The Lyon Mountain location will be at American Legion Post #1623 with permission granted by Commander Ronnie Chase. The Dannemora Location will be the parking lot of St. Joseph's Catholic Church with permission granted by Father Scott. The hours of operation will be from 9am - 1pm both Saturdays.
There will be no collection of any funds from anyone who chooses to use this service. All necessary protocols & guidelines necessary will be followed to ensure the safety of all involved in this service including those who choose to use it. All cost of this service will be covered by the Town of Dannemora. Each household will be limited to 2 bags of regular household garbage, no recyclables will be collected.
NY State Governor's office has indicated trash collection as an essential service and the Town of Dannemora will assist in this matter during this crisis to help with maintaining the safety and sanitation of our residents and taxpayers by providing this service.
Hopefully this is only a short term service, but being mostly a rural area in western Clinton County it is essential and an obligation that the Town of Dannemora assist all of our residents & taxpayers to ease the burdens that has been placed on them by this crisis.

Court is suspended in the Town of Dannemora:
The State of New York Unified Court System has directed that all courts in the State stand down for 45 days. Only those who are required to attend the Town of Dannemora court and have been notified directly by the Court Clerk should keep their court date. All others have been adjourned and will be notified in writing of their new court date. If you have questions, email the Court Clerk at email@example.com.
